Europe up premarket with EU-UK talks as main topic

Major stock markets in Europe were higher in premarket trade on Monday as traders monitored developments related to the post-Brexit talks between the European Union and the United Kingdom. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson reportedly told French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel that a trade agreement would bring benefit to both sides, but noted that London is prepared for a no-deal scenario.

According to media reports, European Commissioner for Trade Valdis Dombrovskis urged the United States to drop tariffs on imports from the EU stemming from the Airbus-Boeing dispute, warning that the bloc may retaliate in the same manner.

The DAX increased by 0.54%, while London's FTSE 100 gained 0.17% at 7:43 am CET. The CAC 40 advanced 0.70% at 7:35 am CET. Both the euro and the British pound were flat compared to the dollar, trading at 1.18224 and 1.30450, respectively, at 7:45 am CET.
