McConnell rejects raising amount for new stimulus

United States Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell rejected on Thursday the possibility of increasing the amount planned for the next stimulus aimed to combat the economic crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

He added the $500 billion-worth bill the Republicans are working on is an "appropriate response" to the current situation.

McConnell initially predicted the new package of measures would not be introduced before the November presidential elections but then announced Senate would vote on it in the week of October 19. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi later reportedly rejected the Republicans' latest proposal.
