Global virus count up by record 504,419
The number of coronavirus infections recorded globally grew by a record 504,419 in the last 24 hours, Worldometer's tally showed.
The increase marks the first time that daily cases jumped by more than half a million in a day, the data revealed, with the global COVID case count clocking in at just under 45 million.
According to the website's data, the number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 reached 1,179,063 worldwide, while more than 32 million people have recovered from the illness since the pandemic started.
