Europe opens higher with US elections in focus

Major European stock markets opened higher on Tuesday as investors focused on the upcoming presidential elections in the United States, which are taking place later today.

On the pandemic front, Russia's official Rinat Maksyutov previously revealed the country plans to start mass vaccination against the COVID-19 in 2021, while France recorded a new record-high number of positive cases despite tightened restriction measures.

The DAX increased 0.59% at the open, with Daimler surging 1.91%. The FTSE 100 advanced 0.90%, as BP soared 2.90%. The CAC 40 rose by 1.12%. Credit Agricole led the gains by jumping 2.98%. The euro gained 0.28% against the dollar to sell for $1.16700, while the pound traded 0.19% higher to go for $1.29411.
