Bitcoin surpasses $15,000 first time since 2018

The top cryptocurrency Bitcoin surpassed on Thursday $15,000, jumping to a 33-month high as the US election votes are still being counted. Also, investors have expectations for continued Federal Reserve stimulus as they believe that the Fed will keep printing money at a pace that favors Bitcoins' finite supply.

For now, Democrat Joe Biden was announced as the winner in both Michigan and Wisconsin and several other states. Trump's campaign requested a recount in Wisconsin, filed lawsuits in Michigan, Georgia and Pennsylvania over alleged voter fraud and is expected to file a similar suit in Nevada.

Bitcoin jumped by 6.74% to $15,109.69 at 10:56 am ET.
