Tesla facing delays at Berlin Gigafactory - report

The construction of Tesla Inc.'s Gigafactory in Berlin could be delayed as the company is having difficulties securing all the needed permits, Electrek reported on Monday.

The automaker previously started building the plant without final approval from the authorities, aiming to advance the project through individual permits. However, Tesla is now unable to continue with the project, as it lacks the approval to clear a forest in place of the future factory, the news site wrote.

Chief Executive Elon Musk (pictured) reportedly held a meeting with Brandenburg's Economy Minister Joerg Steinbach to discuss the situation and the Gigafactory is supposedly still expected to start production in July 2021.
