Asian stock markets mixed amid vaccine progress

Major stock markets in East Asia and the Pacific region traded mixed on Tuesday with the focus on the coronavirus pandemic and the latest COVID-19 vaccine news. BioNTech SE, which is developing the vaccine with Pfizer Inc., said their doses should be ready for delivery by January.

In Mainland China, the Shanghai Composite fell 0.06% below the flatline at 7:34 am CET, while the Shenzhen Composite tumbled 1.41% a minute later. Hong Kong's Hang Seng was unchanged at 7:35 am CET.

Japanese Nikkei 225 rose 0.53% at 7:34 am CET. The dollar was flat against the yen, to go for ¥104.5085 at 7:34 am CET.

South Korean Kospi Composite lost 0.15% at 7:36 am CET. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 grew 0.25% at 7:35 am CET.
