Asian stocks mixed with data, virus in focus

Equities on major stock markets in the Asia-Pacific region traded mixed on Wednesday as investors mainly focused on the coronavirus pandemic after the number of daily deaths caused by COVID-19 globally reached a record high of 10,502.

On the data front, the Japanese Finance Ministry said that the country's trade surplus widened to ¥872.89 in October, topping analysts' estimates.

The Nikkei 225 dropped 1.10% at the closing bell, while the S&P/ASX 200 ended the session 0.51% higher. The Shenzhen Composite lost 0.80% at 7:28 am CET, the Shanghai Composite stood flat and the Hang Seng added 0.09% concurrently. The Kospi in Seoul climbed 0.34% at the same time. The dollar went down by 0.17% against the dollar, changing hands for 104.0180 at 7:28 am CET.
