Nasdaq turns to gains as Tesla soars 9%

The Nasdaq 100 moved to the positive territory, after having started Wednesday's session in the red, led by Tesla Inc. that surged more than 9% amid the S&P Global's announcement which revealed that the carmaker will join the S&P 500 benchmark ahead of the opening bell on December 21.

The automaker's shares soared more than 17% since the start of the week when the S&P came out with the news.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average grew by 0.19% at 12:20 pm ET, while the Nasdaq 100 advanced 0.33% at the same time. The S&P 500 concurrently increased by 0.21%. The euro remained unchanged against the dollar, selling for 1.18665 at 12:21 pm ET.
