Asian stocks mixed with COVID-19, Xi in focus
Markets in Asia-Pacific traded mixed on Thursday as investors digested Chinese President Xi Jinping's comments about the country planning to pursue "trade and investment liberalization and facilitation." Meanwhile, COVID-19 worries continued to affect sentiment in Japan and Hong Kong.
The Nikkei 225 closed 0.36% lower. The dollar was flat against the yen to sell for 103.8275 at 7:17 am CET.
In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng slid 0.48% at 7:20 am CET.
South Korea's Kospi added 0.12% at 7:19 am CET. In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite rose 0.21% at 7:18 am CET and the Shenzhen Composite climbed 0.43% at 7:05 am CET.
Australia's S&P/ASX 200 closed 0.25% higher.
