Sunak: Genuine progress in Brexit talks

British Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak noted on Saturday a "genuine progress" in the negotiations between the United Kingdom and the European Union over their post-Brexit relations.

Speaking to the Sunday Times, Sunak expressed his hopes the government would be able to focus on the country's economy outside the framework of the coronavirus pandemic and on returning public finances to a "sustainable level."

The chancellor recently said it was "time for us to move forward as a country and do what's right for the UK" amid recent delays in the negotiations between London and Brussels.
