Asian markets mixed after Wall Street rally

Asian markets traded mixed on Wednesday following records gains on Wall Street. The Dow Jones topped the 30,000 mark for the first time in history amid growing investor optimism that the coronavirus pandemic will be contained soon with the release of several vaccines.

Meanwhile, markets were lifted by signs of political stability as well, as US President-elect Joe Biden continued his transition to the White House with new cabinet appointments.

The Nikkei 225 closed 0.50% in the green in Tokyo, while the Kospi Composite declined 0.52% at 7:30 am CET. Meanwhile in China, the Shanghai Composite fell 0.99% as the Shenzhen Composite dropped 1.52%. The Hang Seng gained 0.22%. In Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 closed 0.59% higher. The dollar rose 0.06% against the Japanese yen at 7:35 am CET, buying ¥104.506.
