Spain adds 369 COVID deaths, 10,222 infections

The number of fatalities caused by the coronavirus increased by 369 in the past 24 hours to reach a total of 44,037 in Spain, the country's Health Ministry unveiled on Wednesday. The number of daily deaths from the virus declined from six-month high of 537 recorded on Tuesday.

Official data showed that 10,222 Spanish residents tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday's update, bringing the nation's total cases to 1,605,066, while 150,376 people across the country have recovered from the infection since the beginning of the pandemic.

Earlier today, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez hinted the government could limit gatherings to up to six people during Christmas holidays in an attempt to contain the outbreak.
