Asian stocks mixed as COVID remains in focus

Stocks in Asia-Pacific traded mixed on Thursday as worries over the COVID-19 pandemic persisted despite the recent optimism about vaccine development. Investors also digested the US Federal Reserve's minutes which reiterated the bank's readiness to "use its full range of tools" to support the economy amid the pandemic.

The Nikkei 225 climbed 0.55% at 3:06 am CET. The dollar lost 0.09% against the yen to go for 104.3290 at the same time.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng added 0.08% at 3:07 am CET. In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite was down 0.12% at 3:06 am CET and the Shenzhen Composite declined 0.14% at 2:52 am CET.

In South Korea, the Kospi rose 0.43% at 3:08 am CET, while Australia's S&P/ASX 200 fell 0.24% at the same time.
