Johnson: Tier system 'very different' to lockdown
A new tier system that is set to be imposed by the British government to stop the spread of COVID-19 is "not continuing the lockdown," United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Thursday, dismissing claims that the new measures represent similar curbs under a different name.
"These measures are very different compared to the lockdown, there are many more ways for economic activities to continue," Johnson stressed at a press briefing in London.
Previously, the prime minister stated that most communities in England are set to be placed in the top two tier levels after December 2.
