Cuomo slams SCOTUS ruling as 'political'

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said on Thursday that the Supreme Court's decision to block state officials from enforcing a limit on religious gatherings in Brooklyn and Queens was "really more an opportunity for the court to express its philosophy and politics."

Furthermore, Cuomo noted that the Supreme Court is now "a different court, and I think that was the statement that the court was making." "We know who he appointed to the court. We know their ideology," the governor said of President Donald Trump's appointments to the nation's highest court, including the most recent one of Justice Amy Coney Barrett.

However, Cuomo said that the decision "doesn’t have any practical effect" because restrictions on religious services in Brooklyn and Queens have since been eased due to declining COVID-19 infection rates in the areas.
