Thousands protest against security bill in France

Thousands of people protested in France on Saturday against a bill that would limit the citizens' right to publish photos or videos of police officers on duty. Protesters saw the bill as an infringement on the freedom of the press and an attempt to cover up acts of police brutality.

According to the Interior Ministry, around 133,000 people protested in France, of which around 46,000 in Paris. The protests were largely peaceful, but clashes broke out in Paris and Lyon. Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin condemned the violence against the police as "unacceptable" and said 37 officers have been injured. In Paris, officials said 46 people have been arrested.
