Silver drops 2% amid encouraging vaccine news

The price of silver slid more than 2% on Monday as the traders monitored the developments on the COVID-19 vaccine front. The British government unveiled the day before that the country secured an additional 2 million doses of Moderna's COVID vaccine, while Director General of Russia's Vector State Research Center of Virology and Biotechnology Rinat Maksyutov asserted that the vaccination process and the herd immunity could jointly bring the pandemic to an end in 2021.

Silver fell 1.96% to sell for $22.23 per ounce at 2:18 am ET, while spot gold sank 0.42% to $1,780.14 per ounce a minute later. Platinum slid 0.71% to $961.07 at 2:19 am ET, while palladium went down by 0.61% to go for $2,410.64 an ounce a minute after that.
