Dow closes over 270 pts in the red

Trading on Wall Street concluded mostly in the red on Monday with the Dow Jones dropping over 270 points at the end of the session after it was reported that the administration of United States President Donald Trump said it is thinking of blacklisting Chinese leading chipmaker SMIC and national gas company CNOOC. On the data front, the National Association of Realtors (NAR) said that pending home sales in the United States fell 1.1% in October compared to the previous month.

The Dow Jones lost 271 points or 0.91% but still has posted the biggest monthly gain since 1987. Chevron Corp fell by 4.49% The S&P 500 fell 0.46% as EOG Resources plunged by 8.85%. The Nasdaq 100 went slightly up by 0.08%. Moderna was the best performer rising by 20.24%.

The euro went down by 0.25% to go for $1.19306 at 3:57 pm ET.
