Health workers, nursing homes to get vaccine first - CDC panel

A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) panel has decided by a vote of 13-1 that health-care workers and long-term care facility residents ought to get the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine once it gets the necessary approval.

The final decision on the distribution priorities will be left to the United States governors who will take the recommendations into consideration once they are greenlighted by CDC Director Robert Redfield.

Moderna Inc. and Pfizer Inc., with its German partner BioNTech, have both last month filed for emergency use authorization from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for their coronavirus vaccines.
