Michel: Brexit deal must be acceptable to all EU states

President of the European Council Charles Michel said on Friday that the deal between the European Union and the United Kingdom must be acceptable to all 27 member states. He stressed that negotiations are ongoing and that it is still not clear "what will be on the table" but that "we need clarity as soon as possible."

Michel insisted on the full implementation of the Withdrawal Agreement in light of the news that the British government intends to pass the Internal Market Bill, which it would use to override parts of the agreement. "The rule of law is very clear," the president said, asserting that the document, which both sides have agreed to and ratified, must be respected.
