US up premarket with all eyes on stimulus, vaccine

Equities on Wall Street climbed in the premarket trade on Friday as optimism over coronavirus vaccine development increased after Moderna's vaccine against COVID-19 showed a potential to provide durable immunity.

Meanwhile, negotiations between the Republicans and Democrats on the United States' next coronavirus stimulus bill are currently on the right track, according to Democratic House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, who said "there's no reason we can't complete our work next week." US President-elect Joe Biden urged the Congress to pass a $900 billion bill, hinting there could be additional support packages after his administration takes over.

The Dow Jones added 0.29% or more than 80 index points at 10:30 am ET, while the Nasdaq 100 and the S&P 500 strengthened 0.30% and 0.29% at the same time, respectively. The euro increased by 0.17% against the greenback, trading for 1.21659 a minute earlier.
