US markets open higher with stimulus talks in focus

United States equities started Thursday's trading session above the flatline propped up by the news that a deal on the coronavirus relief could be announced within hours. In business, the Securities and Exchange Commission charged Robinhood Financial LLC for misleading customers and fined the trading app $65 million. On data, initial jobless claims climbed 23,000 compared to the previous week, while housing starts grew 1.2% month-on-month.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.20%. Hope Depot Inc. expanded 0.95%. The Nasdaq 100 increased 0.59%, with NetEase Inc. advanced 3.12%. The S&P 500 rose 0.34%. , as Accenture plc soared 8.12%.

The euro was up 0.54% against the dollar at 9:29 am ET, changing hands for $1.22498.
