S&P 500, Nasdaq turn to losses

After starting the session on Tuesday mostly higher, shares on Wall Street crossed over into the red with the Dow Jones over dropping 170 points.

The long-awaited stimulus deal passed by Congress failed to lift sentiment amid growing concerns over a new, highly-contagious mutant strain of the coronavirus in the United Kingdom.

The Dow fell 0.60% at 11:50 am ET, while the S&P 500 lost 0.37%. At the same time, the Nasdaq 100 dipped 0.42%. Moderna, Tesla and banking stocks were among the weakest performers during today's session.
