Senator Hawley: We've got votes for $2,000 checks

Republican Senator Josh Hawley said on Tuesday that there is sufficient support among GOP senators for increasing coronavirus stimulus checks to $2,000.

"We’ve got the votes. Let’s vote today," Hawley posted on Twitter. Earlier, Georgia's Republican senators, David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler, came out in support of $2,000 stimulus checks, along with senators Lindsey Graham, Marco Rubio and Hawley. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is expected to speak on the floor later in the day.

The House of Representatives already voted to pass a bill that would increase the checks from $600 to $2,000, as proposed by President Donald Trump.
