AmEx to stop PAC contributions to anti-Biden lawmakers

The United States credit card company American Express said on Monday it will suspend its contribution to lawmakers who were voting against certifying President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.

The company stated the company’s tradition is to participate in the political process in the US through the AXP Political Action Committee (PAC) and that "last week's attempts by some congressional members to subvert the presidential election results and disrupt the peaceful transition of power do not align with our American Express Blue Box values; therefore, the AXP PAC will not support them."

Similar moves have been made by Marriott International, Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, a network of insurers, and Commerce Bank owner Commerce Bancshares Inc. while Bank of America Corp., Ford Motor Co. and AT&T Inc. said they will take recent events into consideration before any future donations.
