Tesla's top engineer goes to co-founder's startup - report

Andy Hamilton, a long-time Tesla employee and one of the automaker's top manufacturing engineers, has left the company to pursue a career at Redwood Materials, a startup founded by Tesla's co-founder JB Straubel, Electrek reported on Monday.

Hamilton has last assumed the role of a "Director of the Model S/X General Assembly, Powertrain, and Production Control at [Tesla's] Freemont factory," the report read and added that this is not the first time that Straubel's firm "poached" Musk's employees.

Straubel left Tesla in 2019, after having started Redwood Materials, a startup working on lithium-ion batteries and e-waste recycling.

Tesla's stocks dropped 6.29% at 2:56 pm ET, to sell for $823.54.
