S. Korea upholds 20-year jail term for ex-president

The South Korean Supreme Court upheld on Thursday a 20-year prison sentence for the country's former President Park Geun-Hye (pictured middle), overruling the prosecution's attempt to have her term reinstated to 25 years.

Last July, the institution shortened Park's original punishment from 25 to 20 years on the grounds she did not personally benefit from her previous actions.

Back in 2018, Park was found guilty of bribery, abuse of power, coercion, and interfering in parliamentary elections. The scandal led to her removal from office the year before.
