Merkel wants stricter lockdown - report

German Chancellor Angela Merkel reportedly urged for stricter lockdown measures across the country during the urgently convened Prime Minister's Conference (MPK), Bild reported on Thursday.

According to the report, discussion regards the possible discontinuation of the local and long-distance public transport as well as the imposing curfew. There are also talks about how the supply of the population could be guaranteed in such a case.

Germany confirmed its biggest jump in coronavirus fatalities today, with at least 1,244 people dying as a result of the illness during the past twenty-four hours and the cumulative number of infections reaching 1,978,590.
