Blinken: Killing Soleimani left US less secure

The assassination of Quds Force leader Qasem Soleimani left the United States "less safe," Secretary of State nominee Antony Blinken (pictured) asserted on Tuesday.

Blinken claimed that while "taking out" the Iranian leader may have been "the right thing to do," the act caused too many security issues, such as the attacks on the US forces in Iraq and the potential closure of the embassy in Baghdad.

"I think, on balance, that action actually left us less safe," Blinken said.
