Coveney blames NI food supply issue on Brexit

Irish Foreign Minister Simon Coveney blamed on Thursday the ongoing problems with food supplies in Northern Ireland on discrepancies in regulations following the post-Brexit transition period.

"The supermarket shelves were full before Christmas, and there are some issues now in terms of supply chains, so that's clearly a Brexit issue," he told ITV in response to some of the British politicians claiming the coronavirus pandemic was responsible for the issue.

Earlier this week, truck drivers protested in London against the changes in regulations enacted after Britain left the European Union. Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Secretary George Eustice previously claimed that "when people get used to using the paperwork, goods will flow."
