US construction spending up by 1% in December

Construction spending in the United States in December was estimated at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $1,490.39 billion, the US Census Bureau unveiled on Monday. The figure marks a 1% increase compared to the month before and comes slightly above analysts' expectations.

In comparison with December 2019, American construction spending rose by 5.7%, the report showed.

Spending on private construction came in at $1,137.6 billion, 1.2% higher than in November's revised estimate, while public construction spending gained 0.5% on a monthly basis, to reach $352.8 billion.
