Europe closes mostly lower after mixed data

Major stock markets in Europe closed mostly lower on Wednesday after several data reports released during the day showed mixed results. Eurozone saw a monthly rise in inflation and producer prices and a drop in the services sector. The United Kingdom faced a sharp decline in the same field. Meanwhile, it was reported British Cabinet Office Minister Michael Gove asked the European Union to extend the grace period on border checks between Northern Ireland and the rest of Britain until 2023.

The DAX closed 0.66% higher as Daimler AG surged by 7.98%. The FTSE 100 lost 0.22%, with GlaxoSmithKline PLC sank by 6.02%. The CAC 40 fell by 0.09% as Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield SE went down by 3.49%.

The euro declined by 0.12% against the dollar, selling for $1.20224 at 5:27 pm CET. A minute later, the pound sterling decreased by 0.07% against the greenback to change hands for $1.36502.
