Platinum price highest since August 2016

Platinum price reached its highest level since August 2016 as investors seemingly focused on the increasing number of governments and companies worldwide who pledged to reduce emission and announced switching to carbon neutrality by the middle of the century. Platinum is used to oxidise carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons in catalytic converters which help reduce internal combustion engine emissions.

Platinum price rose to a four and a half year high of $1,166.87 per ounce at 8:52 am ET.

Gold gained 1.10% to $1,830.21 per ounce at 8:54 am ET. Silver increased by 2.09% to sell for $27.41 per ounce a minute later. Palladium advanced 0.75% to $2,356.46 at 8:56 am ET.
