Sen. Collins to vote against Biden's OMB pick

United States Senator Susan Collins (pictured) said on Monday that she would vote against President Joe Biden's nomination of Neera Tanden for the position of the director of Office of Management and Budget (OMB).

"Neera Tanden has neither the experience nor the temperament to lead this critical agency. Her past actions have demonstrated exactly the kind of animosity that President Biden has pledged to transcend. In addition, Ms. Tanden's decision to delete more than a thousand tweets in the days before her nomination was announced raises concerns about her commitment to transparency," the Republican lawmaker from Maine said in a statement.

Collins, known as a moderate senator, thus joined her Democratic colleague Joe Manchin who announced the same decision on Friday. Since the Senate seats are split 50-50 between the two parties, Tanden is facing diminishing chances to become the new OMB director, mostly due to her using social media to launch attacks against multiple Republican politicians in the past.
