Europe ends lower after Lagarde's remarks

Major stock market indexes in Europe ended lower on Monday after European Central Bank (ECB) head, Christine Lagarde, said that the central bank was monitoring longer-term nominal bond yields, leading them to drop. Meanwhile, the UK joined the US, South Korea, and Japan in grounding Boeing's 777 airplanes.

Germany's DAX closed 0.31% lower as Delivery Hero plunged 6.78%. The FTSE 100 declined 0.18% at the end of the day. the British index was led lower by Ocado Group which fell 6.17%. Meanwhile, France's CAC 40 lost 0.11% as Dassault Systemes dropped 4.19%.

The euro rose 0.27% against the dollar, going for 1.21494 at 5:54 pm CET and the pound jumped 0.45% compared to the greenback to change hands at 1.40706 at 5:55 pm CET.
