Amazon senior vice president steps down

Amazon's senior vice president Jeff Blackburn announced in an intranet letter to employees his decision to leave the company after his 22-year tenure, CNBC confirmed on Tuesday. Blackburn shared that he isn't retiring from the workforce, while the company's CEO Jeff Bezos added in a reply message that Blackburn's next step "is a very exciting one".

Blackburn has held positions in a variety of Amazon's offshoots, such as Amazon’s Prime Video streaming unit, Amazon Studios film division and Amazon Music.

News arrives shortly after CEO Jeff Bezos declared his stepping down as chief executive officer and Jeff Wilke announced his retirement from executive worldwide consumer business position.
