UK still to decide on travels abroad in summer - minister

British Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said on Thursday it was still too early to say whether Britons would be allowed to travel abroad for vacations this summer, given the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Grant added vaccination programs in other countries would be one of the deciding factors for making that call. "As a result, we need to look at all the various different measures, which needs to include things like the extent to which testing can be used to open up travel," he told ITV.

Since January, the United Kingdom has been requesting international travelers arriving in the country to present both a negative test for COVID-19 and to self-quarantine "if you come from somewhere that isn't on the international corridor."
