US initial jobless claims down by 111,000 to 730,000

The number of initial jobless claims in the United States stood at 730,000 in the week ending February 20, decreasing 111,000 from the previous week's level that was revised down by 20,000, the US Department of Labor reported on Thursday. The four-week moving average was 807,750 a decrease of 20,500 from the previous week's revised average.

The seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was at 3.1% for the week ending February 13. Compared to the prior week, the figure was 0.1 percentage points lower. The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment in the same week came in at 4,419,000, dropping 101,000 last week's revised level. The four-week moving average landed at 4,547,000, falling 91,500 week-on-week.
