JPMorgan CFO: Bank aware of need to expand

JPMorgan Chase & Co chief financial officer Jennifer Piepszak said on Thursday that the bank is acutely aware that the industry's competition is pushing the need for possible acquisitions in asset management. "Perhaps we need to be more aggressive about how we think of buy versus build," the CFO noted.

The statement arrives shortly after JPMorgan was reported to be floating the idea of having investors use Bitcoin as part of portfolio diversification.

Pipeszak also said that she had been seeing lots of strength in equity capital markets and a "meaningful" rise in trading revenue in the first quarter. She also expects JPMorgan to make it to the 4% bucket of global systemically important banks (G-SIB) in 2021.
