US introduces 'Khashoggi ban,' strips 76 Saudis of visa rights

United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken (pictured) announced on Friday that the US is launching a new visa restriction policy, intended to prevent foreigners who "are believed to have been directly engaged in serious, extraterritorial counter-dissident activities" from entering the country. The visa regime was named the "Khashoggi ban," after the late Washington Post's journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who was killed in 2018.

Blinken's statement also unveiled that "76 Saudi individuals, believed to have been engaged in threatening dissidents overseas, including but not limited to the Khashoggi killing," have been stripped of their visa rights.

Earlier today, the US Office of the Director of National Intelligence released a report claiming that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman approved an operation to capture or kill Khashoggi.
