Myanmar junta: Suu Kyi took illegal payments, gold

The leaders of the military coup that recently took place in Myanmar claimed on Thursday the deposed State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi had been accepting illegal payments worth $600,000, as well as gold, during her tenure.

Their spokesperson, Brigadier General Zaw Min Tun, added other officials from Suu Kyi's administration, including the ousted President Win Myint, also engaged in corruption.

Suu Kyi has so far been charged with breaking the measures imposed to contain the COVID-19 pandemic, possession of unregistered walkie-talkies, and spreading information that "caused fear or alarm."
