Europe closes mostly higher on vaccination optimism

European major stock markets closed mostly higher on Friday as the vaccination rate increases. Despite reports of blood clotting side effects of the AstraZeneca vaccine, European drug and medical agencies pronounced the shot safe to use. Meanwhile, ECB's Villeroy de Galhau assured that he sees no risk of the economy overheating and Council member Vitas Vasiliauskas shared his belief that it will take until autumn for the coronavirus crisis to reverse.

The DAX closed 0.46% lower led by Delivery Hero losing 3.80%. The FTSE 100 gained 0.36% as Burberry Group grew by 6.87%, while the CAC 40 advanced by 0.21% with ArcelorMittal climbing 3.18%.

The euro slid 0.30% against the dollar selling for $1.19527 at 5:50 pm ET, while at the same time the pound dropped by 0.54% to trade for $1.39172.
