Panasonic to diversify EV battery supply- report

Panasonic Corporation intends to turn to electric vehicle (EV) battery makers other than Tesla Inc, company's outgoing CEO Kazuhiro Tsuga said to the Financial Times on Sunday.

"We are entering a different phase and we need to keep an eye on supplying manufacturers other than Tesla," Tsuga told the outlet, adding that the Japanese company should "graduate from [its] one-legged approach of relying solely on Tesla."

The two firms started cooperating in 2010, with the first more substantial EV-battery deal signed four years later. In January 2021, they inked an agreement on lithium-ion battery cell supply.
