Wall Street closes higher, tech shares lead gains

Shares on Wall Street ended the session on Monday with gains supported by lower Treasury yields.

Tech stocks were the strongest performers amid the pullback in Treasury yields, while news of President Joe Biden reportedly considering spending $3 trillion on boosting the economy also helped lift market sentiment.

The Dow Jones rose 0.32% at the closing bell; Intel led the gains as it climbed 2.93%. The S&P 500 was up 0.70% as Kansas City Southern surged over 11% on news the company is being acquired by Canadian Pacific Railway. The tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 closed 1.71% in the green with semiconductor company ASML Holding as the top-performing stock.
