Tanker stuck in Suez Canal partially refloated

The large ship that has been stuck in the Suez Canal since March 23 has been partially refloated by engineers, therefore the trade route is expected to reopen soon, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Suez Canal Authority Chairman Osama Rabie said on Monday that tugboats dislodged the Ever Given's bow from the eastern side of the canal. "It is good news. We are not finished yet, but it has moved," Rabie argued.

The travel halt through the vital trade shortcut that connects the Mediterranean Sea with the Indian Ocean has cost the world $9.6 billion per day, according to a recent assessment published by Lloyd's List.
