Spain introduces mandatory masks outdoors

Spain announced a new law on Tuesday requiring everyone to wear masks at all times outdoors, even where social distancing is possible. The regulation was already in place in Catalonia but has been extended to the entire country.

The announcement was made in an effort to curb a possible spike in COVID-19 infections due to the Easter holidays, as health officials warn the country may be tipping into a fourth wave.

As of Monday, March 29, there have been a total of 3,270,825 coronavirus cases, while the death toll stood at 75,199. Vaccination rollout is going slowly in the country, with 4.5 million doses administered, covering around 10% of the population. Around 5% were re-vaccinated.
