Asian stocks down, Kospi rises after earnings forecasts

Most equities on the Asian markets traded lower on Wednesday with South Korea's benchmark Kospi notching gains after two major tech giants from the country released their earnings estimates for the first quarter of 2021. Samsung said it expects its operating profit to jump 44% year-on-year, while LG revealed it sees record-setting results in the same three-month period.

In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite fell by 0.63% at 04:30 am CET, with the Shenzhen Composite losing 1.32% a minute later. Hong Kong's Hang Seng traded 0.52% lower at 04:32 am CET. Japan's Nikkei 225 went down by 0.04% at 04:30 am CET.

The Australian S&P 200 edged 0.08% higher at 04:33 am CET, as South Korea's Kospi gained 0.14%. The dollar went 0.04% up against the yen, going for ¥109.7895 at 04:34 am CET.
