Tesla pushes back delivery date of new Model S, X

Tesla Inc. has pushed back delivery dates of the refreshed Model S and Model X electric vehicles from March-April to May-July timeframe, according to a report published by Electrek on Wednesday.

While the reasons behind the delay remain unclear, it is certain that Tesla failed to deliver any of these new vehicles in the first quarter of 2021. The leaked email sent by Elon Musk to employees last February noted that "Model S/X production lines are almost done with the retooling and will be aiming for max production next quarter. There is high demand, so we are soon going to need to go back to two shifts. Please recommend friends for recruiting."

Meanwhile, the American carmaker revealed it delivered almost 185,000 vehicles in the first trimester, which prompted stocks to surge as much as 8% two days ago.
