Kremlin: Russia, partners aim to finish Nord Stream 2

Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday Russia and its partners aimed to complete the Nord Stream 2 pipeline despite threats of sanctions from the United States and its allies.

Peskov commented on the reports Washington was seeking to appoint a special envoy that would lead negotiations to stop the construction in Germany, saying such a move "probably speaks very eloquently about what is called interference in internal affairs, in the economic interests of other countries."

Earlier this month, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko expressed Moscow's certainty the pipeline would be completed despite US Secretary of State Antony Blinken's warnings his country could impose sanctions on the project.
